Boo for Not Feeling Great

Jon and I both passed out last night around 9 pm since we weren't feeling well... and proceeded to sleep until about 7 am. I honestly can't tell you the last time either of us slept that much. Certainly not since we've been on this trip (where most days I feel like I'm running on empty). Due to still not feeling 100%, we decided to stay at the pool all day. Fortunately, our room was located about 10 yards from the pool, so it was rather nice to have the comfort in case we needed the restroom or wanted to lie down in the AC for a few minutes to escape the heat. We spent most of the day relaxing, reading, and coloring in our adult coloring book :).

At lunch we decided to venture with some of the girls to find food at a nearby restaurant down the beach. We'd been told they had good hamburgers (and let's just say I'm getting a little sick of fried chicken...which I eat at a LARGE majority of meals... We each ordered our burgers... and they came after only about 2 hours. I'm definitely sensing a trend here... they were one of the more delicious things I've eaten while away, although definitely not the right choice for my stomach at that moment in time...

For most of the day, Jon and I bounced between the pool and our room, trying to relax and willing ourselves to feel better. We went to dinner (care to guess how long we waited for food?!??), and talked with Roger and Marilyn about the education systems in our different countries, and then I talked to Marcus for a bit about grant writing and fundraising for the ultra-marathon he and Julie run every year in Thailand.

While we still aren't feeling great, we're hoping tomorrow will be the day we begin to turn around!

PS - In case you're thinking...where the heck is Zanzibar? Here's a handy dandy map. The dots are New York and Zanzibar :)

Jess' highlight of the day: coloring birds with Jonathan in our AC-ed hotel room :)
Jon's highlight of the day: swimming laps in the pool when he was feeling a bit better!
