To Mikumi!

Today was yet another travel day. After breakfast of the most plain foods I could find (since my stomach apparently REFUSED to return to its normal state, although it is definitely getting better), we set off on our journey from Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. Leaving at about 8 am, we stopped several times along the way for restroom breaks and lunch.

Last night at our hotel, Jon and I had washed a bunch of our clothing in the sink, preparing to dry it on the bus like we had been. We hung all of our stuff up in the rafters at the top of the bus...only to have my William and Mary t-shirt blow straight out the window!! I couldn't believe it! Jon and I had JUST been talking about how I was going to throw it away after the trip because it was supposed to be white, but had pretty much turned a shade of tan/yellow after only about a week. Well I guess that decision was made for me! I hope someone in Tanzania enjoys my WM shirt as much as I did!

We immediately took down the rest of our stuff to dry from the safety of the bus (closer to the ground :-p).

We arrived at our hotel in Mikumi National Park around 5 pm. I was feeling slightly better, but Jon and I spent some time relaxing in our room before exploring the grounds a bit. The hotel featured a beautiful bar (with unstoppable wi-fi!), and a pool and a snake house (both of which cost money to use. No thanks!) After exploring we ate dinner with everyone (plain chicken, potatoes, zucchini, and carrots - THANK YOU FOR THE PLAIN FOOD, MARK!) It was really the first time I was able to eat a full meal in days and MAN was I hungry (and grateful for the plain food!!) We also sang to the birthday boy, Roger, who was celebrating his 66th!

After dinner, we soaked up all the internet we could while hanging out with Marcus, Jackie, and Mike, before turning in for showers and an early night's sleep. Tomorrow's game drive begins at 6:30!
