Singapore is a pretty young country - only 50! And it has A LOT of rules. Like, when I first saw a magnet displaying the rules (because YES those are quite common here) I could NOT believe the rules on it! I thought they were a joke at first! But, alas, they are quite serious rules. What are some of the rules you ask? Here are just a few:
- No spitting.
- You must flush the toilet in public toilets, otherwise you will be fined!
- Vandalism carries a jail sentence.
- No eating or drinking on the subway - not even water (the fine is $500!!!!)
- No chewing gum in public ("improper disposal" of gum carries a fine of $1000!!!!!!)
Crazy, huh?!
