Our taxi picked us up this morning at 3:45 am to head to the airport. Thankfully, I was able to sleep the whole ride from 6-8:30 when we arrived in Cairns considering we basically got zero sleep. We arrived at our hotel around 9 but couldn't check in yet. We went on the internet for a bit before heading to the mall across the street to find...a post office! We've been trying to mail a package of our stuff home for WEEKS and we either: forget, remember on a Sunday, or can't find a post office anywhere. So we were pretty excited to find a post office! We bought a box and brought it back, ready to pack it to ship home! Hooray for lighter bags!
Our plan was to head into town after a delicious lunch of Subway, but it was raining fairly hard. Instead we went back to he hotel, were finally able to check in, and napped for a loooonnnnngggggg time. And it. was. incredible. We woke up around 4, still with the idea to go into town...and it was raining harder. And now there was lightning and thunder. Blah. So instead, we decided to just call a spade a spade and enjoy the lazy day. I blogged for a while and we watched some tv before we ventured back to the mall to get some groceries for breakfast for the next few days and also picked up some food for dinner (Red Rooster - kind of like Wendys - pretty good :).)
The rest of the night we packed our box and our bags for tomorrow's trip to...the Great Barrier Reef! Looking forward to it!!
